The Walmart in Cortlandville was evacuated for a short time Saturday night after the store received an anonymous phone call of a person with a gun in the store, according to the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies searched the store and were unable to locate any such person. As a precaution Walmart was evacuated with the assistance of employees.
Cortland County Sheriff’s deputies with the help of New York State Police and Cortland City police conducted an additional extensive search of the store. No one was hurt.
The Walmart re-opened at about 9:00 p.m. The investigation is continuing, including the source of the anonymous report.
