UPDATE: The family of Bianca Devins has set up a scholarship fund in her name. Here is the family’s statement:

“We are grateful to the many who have expressed a wish to make monetary donations in Bianca’s name. Unfortunately, there are several false websites that have been created. These sites do not have the approval or permission of Bianca’s family.

Bianca Michelle Devins Scholarship Fund: Bianca’s family has set up a scholarship fund in her name which is in the care of the Community Foundation of Herkimer and Oneida Counties. Donations can be made to the Bianca Michelle Devins Scholarship Fund, in care of The Community Foundation:https://www.foundationhoc.org/Bianca. We emphasize that this is the only Family-approved fund in Bianca’s name. These funds will be used for a scholarship for students pursuing a degree in psychology so they can continue Bianca’s dream to help adolescents with mental illness.

Other internet funding raising sites are not authorized by the Family, and funds donated to those false sites will not be used for Bianca in any way. ”

The family of Bianca Devins says internet fundraisers and donation sites in memory of the teenager are fake.

The Devins/Williams family have issued the following statement:

“The family of Bianca Devins would like to inform the public that our Family has not, at this time, authorized or set up internet or other fund-raising or donation sites for Bianca or in Bianca’s name.

Unfortunately, there are some fund-raising sites that have been put up on the internet purporting to be raising funds for Bianca and these are not legitimate sites.

The Devins/Williams Family will be setting up a donation site in Bianca’s name as a scholarship program for local students. At the proper time this will be made public and specifically be approved by the Devins/Williams Family.”

17-year-old Bianca Devins was found stabbed to death Sunday morning on Poe Street, Utica.  21-year-old Brandon Clark of the Town of Cicero is facing murder charges.   He was arraigned Tuesday at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, Utica.   Police say Clark tried to take his own life.
