CENTRAL NEW YORK (WSYR-TV) — Flags are flying at half-staff across the state in memory of a Central New York soldier who died in Afghanistan earlier this week.
Army Seargent James Johnston, 24, of Trumansburg, was assigned to Afghanistan out of Fort Hood, Texas.
He was one of two soldiers killed from small arms fire on Tuesday. The other soldier killed was from Germany.
The Army says Sgt. Johnston will be buried in Texas.
