Kids are no longer counting down the days until summer break, but the countdown to Christmas is on!An annual event celebrating the halfway mark to December 25th, the Leon Festival, which is Noel spelled backward, takes over Onondaga Lake Park in Liverpool on Thursday night.
First-time festival goers can expect the park to be buzzing, and not just because there will be a big crowd. Kids can enjoy a “bee happy” area to learn about bees.
The free event also features a local talent showcase, family-friendly activities, inflatable bounce houses, live music and fireworks. Kids can also explore the Hometown Heroes section of the park with police cars and fire trucks.
Leon Festival will get started at 5 p.m. on Thursday with a first-time cape and tiara fun run at 6 p.m. Kids are encouraged to dress up as their favorite superhero or princess. Some short films will be shown on an inflatable screen at 9 p.m. and the night will cap off with a fireworks display at 9:45 p.m.
Parking is free for everyone, but if you’re worried about not getting a spot, free shuttles will run all night from Destiny USA to the Leon Festival.
