New legislation would prohibit the sale of knives undetectable by metal detectors

NEW YORK STATE (WSYR-TV) — A new legislation will ban the manufacturing, shipment and possession of knives that are undetectable by a metal detector.

The governor released a statement Tuesday, saying the measure will help safety factors in airports, courtrooms and other public buildings. 

Possession of these knives will now be considered a misdemeanor and is punishable by up to a year in jail.
