DAYTON, O.H. (WDTN) — Ten people are dead and 16 wounded following an active shooter incident in downtown Dayton, Ohio.
The shooting happened Sunday morning in the city’s bar and business district known as the “Oregon District.”
Officers who were in the area quickly responded to the incident around 1:00 a.m. shooting and killing the suspect. Dayton Police have not determined a motive or released the suspect’s identity.
The suspect was one of ten people killed. Sixteen others were wounded and taken to a nearby hospital.
On Twitter, Dayton Police asked people to avoid the area. The FBI is assisting in this investigation.
A witness told WDTN-NEWS in Dayton they heard 20-30 shots in the area around 1:00 a.m. Sunday. The witness said they later saw at least five bodies under white sheets in the streets.
