Syracuse hits 90 degrees Friday for first time in 2019

Weather

(WSYR-TV) — Syracuse hit 90 degrees at 2:30 p.m. on Friday afternoon making it the warmest day so far in 2019 — and it was the first time we’ve hit 90 this year.

This late-month heat comes in spite of a month that is averaging about a degree below normal.

Syracuse typically hits or exceeds 90 degrees nine times a year. Friday’s 90-degree mark also means it’s been almost 20 years since the last time we managed to make it through a calendar year without a 90-degree day.

The last time we didn’t hit 90-degrees at least once was in 2000.

The heat, however, won’t last.

Cooler weather is expected this weekend and it ends up being a struggle to get past 90 on Sunday.
