SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) The rain keeps falling, and the totals for May are creeping upward.

The Storm Team compiled a list of rainiest Mays, and with the month not ending until Friday, we could and should climb higher.

While that in itself is significant, I thought it would be better to take a look at a longer period of time.

I looked back at spring rainfall, which would comprise the months of March, April and May.

Up until midnight the night of the 27th, we’ve had 11.35″ of rainfall since March 1st. That’s good for 18th since 1949 when record keeping started at the Syraucse airport , 21st since 1902spot on the list of spring rainfalls.

For comparison (table below) the wettest spring was 1976 when 20.15″ of rain fell.

Rainfall in the spring of 2017 was 15.26″ which was good for 4th.

By no means are we seeing record rainfall this spring, but with rain coming just about every other day, it’s starting to wear on us a bit.
