The National Weather Service has issued a Wind Chill Advisory for parts of central New York from  until 11am Sunday for the Oneida county.

The air temperature will be in the single digits and low teens tonight through Sunday morning. When combined with a gusty wind of 10-25 mph the wind chill could get as cold as -20°.

A Wind Chill Advisory is issued when strong wind will combine with cold temperatures to create dangerously cold conditions for exposed skin.

The wind will make it feel like it is 15 degrees below zero or colder for a period of several hours.

If you will be outdoors use common sense and dress warmly…making sure that all exposed skin is covered. If possible avoid prolonged exposure to the cold to prevent frostbite and hypothermia.

Make sure all exposed skin is covered, and wear many light loose layers. Clothing made from wool or poly-blend clothing is best because it does not trap moisture.

Frostbite can start within 10-20 minutes on uncovered skin when it is this cold.
